Tonight was my first time making kitchari, a traditional Ayurvedic dish that heals digestive distress, balances the metabolism, cleanses the blood and liver, helps the body's tissues to detox, and is filled with protein, healthy carbs, and nutrients. It gives the agni (digestive fire) an OOMPH, and tastes delicious to boot! I've been experiencing some not-so-nice autoimmune symptoms from eating too much sugar and not practicing dinacharya (self-care), so I'm going to be eating this, and only this, for the next three days. After that I'll cut back to one meal a day. Tomorrow I'll be seeing an Ayurvedic practitioner for the first time. We can't take care of anyone else if we don't take care of ourselves first.
